Synopsis: A heart-wrenching TV movie about the real life super model, Gia Marie Carangi, who shot to fame in the 1970's. From age 17 when she worked in her father's dinner, through finding fame till her early death in 1986. This is the story of a girl whose fame and fortune led to her eventual destruction Gia
was one of the earliest supermodels and probably the first female
celebrity to die of AIDS. Gia subsequently achieved fame and it's attendant lifestyle. Gia
focuses mainly on the influences this lifestyle had on the young model
and her attempts to take her life back
This
film is particularly difficult to watch, because with our current
knowledge of HIV, it is painfully obvious that the waste was easily
avoidable Excellent
performances from Angelina Jolie and Elizabeth Mitchell The
Chemistry between the leads is so palpable,
you really want it to work out for this two. The tenderness of the love
between Gia and Linda is at odds with everything else in this poor
young girl's life. Great love scenes. Despite
it's tragic premise, this is one great love story. Tissues
at the ready.
