She gives an incredible performance as an old and later old lady. She completely inhabits her character. Well done Julianne!! Meryl Streep, probably my all time favourite actress is not stretched in this performance. Nicole Kidman just gets better and better. She is Virginia Woolf!! This film narrates the stories of
three women from three different eras who are tied together by the
novel, Mrs Dalloway
Virginia Woolf's torment is well documented but we see here a side of her that is tender and caring and vulnerable. Laura Brown is a bored housewife living in post WW11 Los Angeles. Reading Mrs Dalloway helps her decide to follow her heart, wherever it may lead. Clarissa Vaughan is a modern day woman living in New York City. Clarissa is fondly called 'Mrs Dalloway' by her best friend and ex lover Richard [Ed Harris]. She is totally devoted to looking after him as he battles AIDS Toni Colette, although on for about 5 minutes is superb as Kitty Barlowe An all star well performed and intriguing movie that touches the heart A rather profound quote from the
movie: 'to
look life in the face ... always to look life in the face, and to know it
for what it is. At last, to know it, to love it for what it is, and
then ... to put it away.' A must have
